ISTAT guest statistics: the national duty
Hotel and non-hotel accommodation businesses in Italy report their arrivals and nights monthly, through the statistics portal of the region the property is in. It is a separate duty from Alloggiati Web: the police report does not cover it. Whether a private short let reports too is set by regional law. The national fine for an individual is €206 – €2,065.

What is reported
The national survey of guest movements counts arrivals and nights in hotel and non-hotel accommodation businesses. Answering is compulsory for the private businesses it covers.
How it is sent, and who else reports
The data feed ISTAT's survey of guest movements in accommodation and are sent monthly, through the statistics portal of the region the property is in. Each region runs its own portal (Ross 1000 in many regions), and regional law decides which other kinds of accommodation, such as private short lets, report too and what else they send. Check with your region's tourism statistics office.
Fines
Not supplying the data, or knowingly supplying wrong or incomplete data, is an administrative offence under the national statistics law: €206 – €2,065 for an individual and €516 – €5,164 for a company or other entity. A region can set penalties of its own for the duties it adds.
